New Yorker Declares NBC’s The Office “The Best Sitcom On The Air”

Read the gospel here.

Goddamn we’ve been saying this for so long it hurts just to type it: around halfway through the second season, the American Office actually became a superior program to the British one. The only reason any of FSD’s more TV-orientated peers didn’t know this is they were two busy watching the so-sugary-it-hurts-your-teeth sinking ship that is The O.C.

Last year, at a bar, or show, or party, the conversation usually went like this:

FSD: Maaaan, how about that Office?

IDIOT: Love the BBC version.

FSD: Yeah, yeah, but did you see last week’s episode?

IDIOT: The American version? BBC is so superior.

FSD: Yeahbutifyoujust–

[hour-long stalemate waste-of-time conversation ensues, concluding with FSD storming towards a strong drink off waving arms all akimbo in total flustered frustration while Idiot just shrugs at his girlfriend]

This year it’s more like this:

FSD: Wow does that Office just get better and better.

IDIOT: Love the BBC version.

FSD: Right, meanwhile, have you actually even seen the American version?

IDIOT: I mean sure I’ve seen an episode but–

FSD: You know what? Let’s just not get into this. Your loss, idiot.

Attention idiots! We forgive you! Now please please do us all a favor and shuffle down to your local TLA to rent the second season, then download the 9 current episodes of the third and join us as we sing the praises of The Reason God Created Thursday, aka The Office.
